Terms and conditions for ‘BT Be Your Own Boss Challenge’

3. As part of the terms and conditions of the competition and prize, the prize winner will be required to sign a 12 month contract (with the exception of BT Office Anywhere which requires a 24 month term) with BT for each of the six BT services listed in paragraph 2 above. Once an account has been activated in the prize winner’s name for each of these six BT services BT will send the prize winner one cheque for the funds equivalent to cover the 12 month subscription of the six products and services that form the prize listed in section 2.3 of these terms and conditions, with the costs as listed on BT.com, including VAT.


Terms and Conditions

 

  1. The draw is open to GB, Channel Islands and Isle of Man residents aged 18 or over, other than employees of BT, their families or its agencies.
  2. Entry to the competition is free. To enter the competition you must submit a business plan for a new business that you want to launch, or a business that you have launched six months prior to the 1 March 2008. Entries must also include information on the greatest challenge they are currently facing getting their business off the ground. Entrants must submit their business plan and challenge via the One Life Live website by midnight on Wednesday 27th February 2008.
  3. From the entries via the website, twenty-four entrants will be selected by judges based on the likely success of their business plan. These 24 will then be invited to present their business plan and explain their business challenge to a panel of judges in person at the One Life Live event. The selection will be based on the viability of the business plan at the judges’ discretion. The selected entrants must be available to attend the One Life Live event in Grand Hall Olympia, London on 01 or 02 March 2008 to present their business plan. The winner will be chosen by an independent judging panel on 02 March 2008 based on the likely chance of success of the business plan. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Prize Details

a) The winner will receive £2,000 cash to help get their business idea of the ground. BT is not liable or responsible for the winner’s use of or enjoyment of the cash

b) The winner will receive a Sony Vaio laptop (VGN-CR21S/L, 2GHz with 14.1 Inch Display).

c) As part of the terms and conditions of the competition and prize, the prize winner will be required to sign a 12 month contract (with the exception of BT Office Anywhere which requires a 24 month term) with BT for each of the six BT services listed in paragraph 4 above. Once an account has been activated in the prize winner’s name for each of these six BT services BT will send the prize winner one cheque for the funds equivalent to cover the 12 month subscription of the six products and services that form the prize listed in section 2.3 of these terms and conditions, with the costs as listed on BT.com, including VAT. The winner must pay for each BT service listed in paragraph 4 by direct debit for the duration of each of the 12 month contracts. Any costs not included in the prize will be the responsibility of the prize winner. The winner will be bound by the standard terms and conditions for each of the six BT services listed in paragraph 4 above on acceptance of the prize. The prize is subject to status.

d) The winner must sign up directly for 12 months to BT Business Total Broadband Option 2. BT Business Total Broadband is subject to availability and survey. The winner must have an existing BT business landline or one will need to be installed as part of the prize. If the winner does not live in a broadband-enabled area or they do not want a BT business line installed or is not able to meet the standard BT Business Total Broadband terms and conditions he/she will not be eligible to receive the BT Business Total Broadband prize.

e) The winner must sign up directly for 24 months to BT Office Anywhere. 24 months is the standard minimum term for BT Office Anywhere. The BT Office Anywhere prize includes 30MB/Month, 250 inclusive minutes and a HTC 620 handset. If the winner chooses to select BT Business Email (a BT Business hosted exchange email service that pushes exchange e-mail to the Windows mobile device over GPRS), as part of their service, and he/she does not have an existing BT Business email account or run Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 on their own server, he/she will receive monthly bills for their subscription to BT Business Email. To cover this, if the winner selects BT Business Email he/she will also receive payment in 1 month to cover the monthly subscription (for 12 months) in advance. Monthly payment by Direct Debit is a mandatory requirement to take the service. The prize winner has exclusive entitlement to opt out of the usual 24 month contract at any time during the first 12 month period provided they give written notice of termination 28 days in advance. This forms an exception to standard BT Business Office Anywhere terms and conditions and is applicable only to the notified winner of this competition. If the winner is not able to meet the standard BT Business Office Anywhere terms and conditions he/she will not be eligible to receive the BT Business Office Anywhere prize.

f)The winner must sign up directly for 12 months to BT Tradespace Premium.The winner will be bound by the standard BT Business Tradespace Premium terms and conditions on acceptance of the prize.  If the winner is not able to meet the standard BT Business Tradespace Premium terms and conditions he/she will not be eligible to receive the BT Business Tradespace Premium prize.

g)The winner must sign up directly for 12 months to BT Business Builder Premium.The winner will be bound by the standard BT Business, Business Builder Premium terms and conditions on acceptance of the prize. If the winner is not able to meet the standard BT Business, Business Builder Premium terms and conditions he/she will not be eligible to receive the BT Business, Business Builder Premium prize

.h) The winner must sign up directly for 12 months to BT Workspace Ultimate. The winner will be bound by the standard BT Business Workspace Ultimate terms and conditions on acceptance of the prize.  If the winner is not able to meet the standard BT Business Workspace Ultimate terms and conditions he/she will not be eligible to receive the BT Business Workspace Ultimate prize.

 

i) The winner must sign up directly for 12 months to BT Web Clicks.  The winner will be bound by the standard BT Business Web   Clicks terms and conditions on acceptance of the prize. If the winner is not able to meet the standard BT Business Web Clicks terms and conditions he/she will not be eligible to receive the BT Business Web Clicks prize.  

5. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if this is necessary for reasons beyond its control or in its discretion is appropriate if the winner cannot meet any of the standard terms and conditions of any of the BT services listed in paragraph 4 above.

6. The winner will be notified by email (to the address supplied to BT no the entry form) on or immediately after 10 March 2008. The Promoter reserves the right to re-draw the prize if the winner cannot be contacted within a reasonable period of time (to be established at the Promoter’s sole discretion).

7. The name of the prize winner may be obtained by written request by sending an SAE to Fishburn Hedges, BT Be Your Own Boss Challenge, 77 Kingsway, London WC2B 6SR on or before 31 March 2008

8.The winner may be required to participate in publicity events after the draw and by entering the promotion acknowledge their consent to take part in publicity and for their name/photo to be published.

9.By entering this promotion, participants agree to be bound by these terms and that the decision of the promoter is final and binding in all matters relating to this promotion.

10. The Promoter reserves the right to alter, amend or withdraw this competition without prior notice in the event that unforeseen circumstances make this unavoidable.

11. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant resulting from entering this prize draw or by the entrant’s acceptance or use of any prize. Nothing shall exclude the Promoter’s liability for death or personal injury resulting from its negligence. 

12.This promotion is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
